Counseling for children, teens, and young adults

Every child arrives with their own way of telling their story.

Some children can sit and talk about what's weighing on them. Others show you instead — with the game they choose to play, the picture they draw, the story they build with figures on the floor, the book they pick from the shelf. A teenager might open up in the middle of a conversation about something else entirely.

At Grow and Bloom Counseling, we start by paying attention to how each child communicates, and then we meet them there. There is no single method that works for every young person, so rather than fitting your child into one approach, we build the approach around your child.

Most of the concerns that bring families to us — meltdowns, anxiety, anger, shutting down, school avoidance, conflict at home — come back to a young person struggling to manage big feelings.

Emotion regulation is a learnable skill, not a fixed trait. We help children and teens learn to recognize what they're feeling and name it, notice their early warning signs before things escalate, build a set of strategies that actually work for them, tolerate discomfort without being overwhelmed by it, and recover and repair after a hard moment.

The goal is not a child who never gets upset. The goal is a child who has somewhere to go when they do.
